Arts and Craft Show this Saturday, Come Vote in the People’s Choice Award competition

It’s Fall, Y’all! You are cordially invited to welcome the season at the annual Arts and Crafts show, Saturday, September 30. The show opens at 9AM and closes at 3PM, at the Lytle Community Center, 19031 Priest in Lytle.

The show includes 22 booths of original fine arts from area artists and unique crafts. Fine arts booths will offer watercolor paintings, oil painting, acrylics, pastels, colored pencils, alcohol inks and graphite drawings. Among our crafters, will be woodwork, jewelry, fabric art, pottery and seasonal décor.
Of special interest is the art competition for the booth exhibitors. Each artist may enter as many as three items in specific categories and the contest is judged by a professional artist. Ribbons are offered in each category and then the judge names the Best In Show. Later, the audience vote for their favorite from the entire show to name the People’s Choice Award.
We are especially pleased to announce the return of the Student Art Show. Area schools participate and compete for recognition. Area schools include Devine High School and middle school, Natalia High School and Middle School, Lytle High School and Middle School, Somerset High School and Middle school and Medina Valley High School and two middle schools. Ribbons are awarded in a variety of categories, including over all best in show. Show visitors are invited to vote for their People’s Choice in the Student Exhibit.
In addition to all the colorful artwork, the Friendship Art Club sponsors an extensive raffle. Many items are donated by show participants and feature original artwork. The proceeds from the raffle comprise the annual Scholarships awarded to local senior graduates. This year’s winner is Jianna Zamora-Ruiz from Devine High School.
Light hospitality is provided by the club for exhibitors. However, Grunt’s Food Truck and Juan’s Tacos will be standing by, assuring that no one goes hungry. So, come and join the fun in air-conditioned surroundings, friendly people, bright colors, plenty to eat and support your local school with our scholarship fund.
