7th Maroon and Gold Fillys take on Carrizo Springs

DMS Filly Volleyball was back in action again this week. This time they were hosted by Carrizo Springs.
The 7th Filly Gold Team finally ironed out some serving issues and capitalized on that early. Serving well in both the 1st and 2nd sets, was Aimee Carr, who racked up 14 points with 4 of those being aces. Bella Flores (2) and Jaylynn Hernandez (1) also recorded aces in the match. The Fillys handled the Wildcats easily in set 1, outscoring them 23-10. The 2nd set was closer but the Fillys were able to hold the Wildcats, taking it 17-15.
The 7th Maroon Fillys were also in action in Carrizo Springs Monday evening. Devine started off quickly, building a 9-3 lead. The set moved quickly, with Devine winning 25-15. The second set was different with Carrizo going on a few long serving streaks. The Fillys rallied, but came up short 20-25. Devine was determined not to go out easily as they finally busted loose on a streak of their own. Kynedie Cruz served 9 points straight to get the Fillys out front. They remained there and defeated the Wildcats 25-17 in set 3. With that victory, the 7th grade Maroon Fillys moved to 4-0. The next game is September 28th at Uvalde.
These girls have continued to improve week to week. Finally, some of the important pieces are coming together. It’s been fun, but we know we have to keep working hard and continue to improve.
