Our community was sad to learn of yet another awful fatality accident which claimed the lives of locals Charlie West, 76, and his daughter Stacy West, 36, one dark night this past Thursday, January 13.
West reportedly lost control of his pickup truck near Castle Hills around 5am. Both Charlie and Stacy were transported to the hospital, but sadly passed away.
West and his daughter will be missed by many in the community. We at the News office will miss his smiling face, as he often popped in to grab a copy of the paper “hot off the press”.
Charlie will be remembered as a loving husband of 56 years to his beautiful wife Doris, and as a wonderful father and grandfather. He owned and operated the iconic Charlie’s Bar in Devine for over two decades, making many friends along the way.
Stacy was a loving wife, daughter, and momma to her beautiful daughter Abigail and husband Robert.
Friends called them “unique and incredible individuals who always put their families first” and noted that Stacy and Charlie are surely “dancing with the lord” now, and noted that Charlie, a jokester, probably has “a pocket full of butterscotch candy” he is handing out to the angels.
