I asked my teenage daughter (not naming any names) to help get my son dressed. She put a little twist on that when he resisted a little, but he came out dressed.
I learned later that she told her poor little brother that if he doesn’t wear socks with his shoes he will “grow an extra toe” on the side of his foot.
What a sisterly thing to do.
This morning as he was getting dressed for school, he had quite a few questions about her tall tales. He put his shoes and socks on very carefully. He kept examining his feet and finally asked me “Where the extra toe would grow if it did happen?”
Trying to hold back my laughter, I assured him he wouldn’t really be growing any extra toes, but he is still a little worried I think. I wonder just how many years he will have a fear of wearing shoes without socks. You can’t believe everything you read on the internet, and you definitely can’t believe everything your big sister tells you!
