Devine hits happy trails in Floresville to begin XC season

The Arabian and Warhorse Cross Country teams ran in the Floresville Invitational Saturday to begin what looks like a bright 2023 season. Eighteen runners toed the line in Tigerland as they now look forward to the shorter trip to Castroville for Medina Valley’s annual meet.


Rachel Stotts led the Arabians, placing 13th overall with a time of 13:35. Angelina Garica was next for Devine placing 67th at 14:56. Claire Atkinson was 70th at 14:58, Camila Sierra was 74th with a time of 15:06, and Jilliyn Guajardo was 91st at 15:33 to round out their team’s 254, 10th place points.
Others running were Dani Gutierrez (93rd-15:34), Darilynn Garcia (99-15:55), Isabelle Nunciao (136-17:29), and Lexi Perez (140-17:47).
Donovan Dixon paced the Warhorses coming in 41st with a time of 18:33. Jesse House was next at 76th with a time of 19:33. Jaiden Alvarez placed 121st at 21:02 followed by Shawn Lowe at 148th with a 22:32 and Jake Riou 158th at 23:20 to account for the five-runner score of 544.
Jonathan Moralez (24:31), Rowdy Esparza (24:36), Camilo Aguirre (25:14), and Christian Ross (25:54) also ran for the Warhorses.
