The freshmen Arabian volleyball team went 2-0 last week with wins over Ingram and Hondo. Devine put away the Lady Warriors rather easily two sets to none last Tuesday, then defeated the Owls two sets to one the following day.

“My girls did a great job coming out strong in the first set against Ingram,” said Coach Kara Stacy. “We committed very few errors which allowed us to get up quick and execute a well played set to finish 25-11. The second set was a little different of a story for us as we struggled getting serves over and in and taking care of the ball. Despite these unforced errors we were still able to finish on top winning the 2nd set 25-19.”
Whatever the case may be, winning in two sets is a good thing and Coach Stacy kept her team focused on victory for both sets.

vs Hondo
In a three-set thriller, Devine took down Hondo 25-20, 29-30, 15-10 to pull out their second victory in two days. After the grueling cap-hitting second game, the Arabians won the third set rather handily.
“We knew Hondo was going to be a little bit more of a competitive game for us which meant we needed to come out strong, which we did. Unfortunately, we made a few too many errors in the second set making us lose a tough fought set. We did a much better job of taking care of the ball in the third set as we were able to get up quick and maintain a good lead to win.”

Final say
“Overall, I am proud of the girls’ effort in these games. We did a great job stepping up to the challenge and we’re able to come out on top making us 3-0 for the season,” Stacy said in closing.
