Cross country off and running

Devine High School Cross Country began their 2019 campaign August 1st with 27 Warhorse and Arabian runners coming out the first day of practice. Long, easy runs will dominate the first phase of the season as minor improvements to running form and endurance are the key points to address.
I have been extremely pleased with the attention to detail and the runner’s desires to take the tempo up another notch this early in the season. We are aiming to build a nice, solid base so we can work harder as we approach Phase Two around the first of September.
Our Arabian team is coming off a fantastic 2018 showing and our goal is to put ourselves in contention to accomplish the same team goal of reaching State. One Warhorse advanced to Regional last season. The goal for the boys is to get more runners if not the whole team to Regional in Corpus Christi on October 28.
Xavier Garza, Chris Ortiz, Zachary Alvarez, Marcus Espinosa, Weston Byrd, Michael Reichel, Jeremy Casillas, Rylan Mata, Owen Fowler, Thomas Mendoza, Arturo Diaz, Kristofer Aguirre, and manager Quintin Stanfield compose the Warhorse team.
Espi Mendoza, Bri Bernal, Brooke Runyan, Bri Bowyer, Kelli Geyer, Yessika Garza, Audrey Longoria, Shelby Joslin, Victoria Gonzales, Kristina Moralez, Allie Dugosh, Corinne Fowler, Trinity Black, and Rebecca Mares are the Arabian runners.

Middle schoolers
