Roping benefit for Hunter Erwin June 1

The Cowboy Church in God’s Country is sponsoring a roping competition to benefit Hunter Erwin at the Medina County Rodeo Association Arena on Saturday, June 1. The arena is located at 402 Harper St. in Hondo.
Erwin has Vascular Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that can cause arteries, veins, and internal organs to rupture. Erwin was airlifted to Houston in December for several complex surgeries, and money raised will go to help the family with medical and associated debt.
The benefit kicks off at 10:00 am with a silent auction, drawings, kids’ games, and concessions. Roping is split into 16 and under and Adult categories, and begins at 2:00 pm. Entry is $100, and there is a #10 cap, #6 (draw 4). Buckles will be awarded to the champion header and heeler for each roping.
For more information or to donate cash or merchandise for the silent auction or drawing, contact Patricia Ivory at 830-426-6777, or Rick Davis at 210-300-8852.
The Erwins are continuing to make trips back and forth to Houston to see the specialists there.
Mrs. Samantha Erwin commented, “We are so blessed to have such a loving church family who has seen our struggles and is willing to go out of their way to put on this benefit for Hunter. Words cannot explain how grateful we are. We know this is not an easy thing to organize and put together but are at a loss for words for all their hard work. We will be forever grateful for all who show up to participate and pray a hedge of protection over each rider and the livestock. I am looking forward to just having a small table set up with information about vEDS and Hunter’s conditions. I pray that we can continue to spread awareness!”
