Natalia Board approves compensation plan for upcoming school year

The Natalia ISD Board approved staff compensation for the 2020-2021 school year during a Special meeting held on Monday, May 4.

Rather than an across-the-board raise for staff, teachers will be bumped up a “step” on the teacher compensation pay scale, and all staff members will receive a $500 retention stipend. Additionally, $65,000 was allotted for a medical teaching position for certification classes offered at Natalia High School.

Work days for library aides will increase to 187 from 178, and instructional days for aides other than those involved with Head Start will increase to 180 from 178.

Stipends for teacher education and certifications increase, as did the stipends for coaches and for teachers who sponsor academic events, clubs, and extracurricular activities.

The daily rate for substitute teachers also increased to make the Natalia more competitive with surrounding districts.

All told, the compensation will cost around $257,000. Specific stipend information is available on Natalia ISD’s BoardBook posting for the May 4 meeting, which can be accessed via on the School Board section of the district’s website.

The recorded livestream of the May 4 is available for viewing on YouTube and can be found by searching “Natalia ISD Boardmeeting” on that site.
