Guns, wallets, cards stolen in string of Devine burglaries

Local residents had a rude awakening this past Wednesday morning, October 23, after a rash of vehicle burglaries around Devine the night of October 22. There have been four burglaries reported to Devine PD so far from Hickory Highway, Monticello Circle, Wedgewood Way, and Mockingbird Lane in Devine.

Strangely enough, Devine PD did recover a backpack and a driver’s license at the city park, which were just a couple of the many items stolen that night.
“We did recover a back pack with miscellaneous items that belonged to one of the victims,” said Devine PD Lieutenant Chris Andrews. The backpack was found sitting near the restrooms at the Devine City Park.”
Devine PD reminds you to please keep your vehicles locked. There have been 12 vehicle burglaries reported to Devine PD this year so far in 2019, and there were 21 vehicle burglaries last year in 2018.
A more detailed list of items reported stolen the morning of October 23 is as follows:
5:59 AM – Complainant in the 400 block of Hickory Hwy. reported the burglary of a vehicle. The vehicle was entered and a wallet containing driver’s licencse, debit card, and health insurance card was removed.
6:50 AM – Complainant in the 400 block of Monticello Cir. reported the burglary of a vehicle. The vehicle was entered and a wallet containing driver’s license, $400 cash, credit cards, and debit card was removed. The driver’s license was located at park and given to owner.
8:00 AM – The property of a complainant in the 500 block of Wedgewood Way was found at the Devine City Park. The complainant was unaware that the property was missing from his truck. One gun was taken, a Ruger .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun.
6:08 PM – Complainant in the 400 block of Mockingbird Ln. reported the burglary of a vehicle. The vehicle was entered and a wallet containing driver’s license, $60 cash, one credit card, one debit card, one medical card, and five Social Security cards was removed.
Oct. 24
7:44 PM – Complainant in the 700 block of Pilgrim Dr. reported a white Ford SUV parked in her yard and stated they shouldn’t be there. Complainant stated she found a cell phone in her yard after the suspicious vehicle left her property. Officers patrolled the area; unable to locate. Officers took possession of the found property and logged it into evidence. Owner of the phone came on Oct. 27, and the phone was released to the owner with property receipt.
