The Devine Arabians finished their most successful powerlifting season in the somewhat brief history of the program. Aaliyah Terrazas and Arsci Lopez placed third and fifth respectively in last week’s Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association State Championship.
Aaliyah finished with a total of 695 pounds in the 105-pound division by lifting 265lb in squat, 140lb in bench, and 290lb in dead lift.
Arsci totaled 630 pounds in the 105-pound division with a 260lb squat, 125lb bench, and a 245lb dead lift.
“I am super proud of these two young ladies,” said Head Coach Paul Gomez. “Aaliyah had an outstanding career for the Arabians qualifying for State three times. Arsci, who is only a sophomore, has now qualified for State both as a freshman and as a sophomore so there are still a lot of great things in store for her for years to come.”
