Devine ISD COVID protocol changes for staff

Devine ISD enacted the following changes to Covid protocol effective immediately.
“TEA and The Department of State Health Services have changed their procedures, so DISD will follow that guidance. Changes were made for staff only. Guidance for students may change by the end of this week, but for now, if a child tests positive for COVID, there is a 10-day quarantine.
Please check with the campus nurse to determine return dates for staff and students.
1/7/22 Guidance Changes: Positive/Presumed Positive Staff may return when: If symptomatic, at least five days have passed since symptom onset, and fever free*, and other symptoms have improved. For those with no symptoms, at least five days after the day they tested positive.
*Fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-suppressing medications. Fever is a temperature of 100° Fahrenheit (37.8° Celsius) or higher.
DISD staff close-contact guideline: Staff who are in close contact with someone who is COVID positive are not required to stay home. The decision is left to the individual. These are the guidelines we will follow.
Reminder Regarding Student Rules- As a reminder, the rules for students have not yet been changed. That means until this changes (possibly as soon as next week 1/15/22): Students: Confirmed or Suspected of having COVID-19: Must be kept at home until they meet DSHS conditions for re-entry (See below)
Student Close Contacts: Parental decision on quarantine for close contact.
Conditions for student re-entry from DSHS: If the individual suspected of having COVID (not test confirmed to be positive) comes back with a negative test, the individual may return to school earlier than 10 days.
If symptomatic, exclude until at least 10 days have passed since symptom onset, and fever free*, and other symptoms have improved. Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 but do not have any symptoms must stay home until at least 10 days after the day they were tested.
*Fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever suppressing medications.
Fever is a temperature of 100° Fahrenheit (37.8° Celsius) or higher.” https://dshs.texas.gov/covid19readmission/
