This Saturday, August 10th, from 8:30 am until 3:00pm we will be hosting an indoor Rummage Sale. That’s right! Come shop in the A/C and dig through our boxes and boxes of treasures!
Since 2005, the Devine Food Pantry has been serving the citizens of nine different towns in the County of Medina. As the towns have grown, so has the Pantry. We now serve over 20,000 people per year and that number continues to grow. Many families need the food to supplement what they can afford and some elderly neighbors need the food because the cost of medication has gone up – they would have to choose between much-needed medicine or food.
If you haven’t seen our new facility, come by and check us out! We are a non-profit, registered 501c3 and are comprised of volunteers only – there are no paid positions within our organization. That means we apply all funds received directly to the pantry for food, utilities and rent. The Pantry offers “Client Choice” shopping. In other words, all clients shop our stocked shelves and freezers and choose the food that they prefer versus being handed a box of food that may not be used. We have partnered with the San Antonio Food Bank, HEB and Walmart to help serve the citizens of Medina County.
All of this takes work and dedication. We hold several fundraisers every year as well as receive donations from companies and private citizens.
This Saturday, August 10th from 8:30 am until 3:00pm we will be open and hosting an indoor Rummage Sale. That’s right! Come shop in the A/C and dig through our boxes and boxes of treasures here at the Devine Food Pantry, 309 N Teel!
And while you are shopping, take a minute or two to visit with one of our volunteers to learn how you can help service this wonderful community by volunteering at the food pantry.
