No arrests during slow week

What a boring week we had. We had a whopping 36 service calls, and most of them were for routine stuff like civil matters, alarms and suspicious activity. Officers did file 102 Class C citations with the municipal court though. We didn’t have any arrests! Maybe there was some big criminal convention in Vegas and they all were out of town.
Well at least one mischievous person was here and visited John Lott Park, which was the epicenter of crime this week. Our only reported property crime occurred in the men’s room where some fellow detached the urinal from the wall causing about $200 in damage. I have no idea why somebody would want to do that. Were they trying to steal it? A quick search on eBay for “used urinal” returned almost 600 items so I guess there is a market for them. I was going to have our investigator fingerprint the urinal but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.
The good news is that when it is slow we are able to work on other projects like reviewing and updating policy, working on the evidence room, taking online classes and do some organizing around the office. The bad news is that when it is slow around the office I start thinking about eating! I recently visited my doctor and we talked about my weight and what it should be based on my height. Under current guidelines I would have to be back in 7th grade to be the right weight. It’s a tough fight, so most days I sit in the break room eating a salad and watching some court TV show.
So what’s coming up in Lytle? Well I talked to Ms. Campa over at City Hall and she confirmed that there will be a fireworks display at John Lott Park on Monday July 3rd at 9:30 PM; this is always a popular event so start planning early to attend. We normally have a huge turnout but rest assured I will have adequate staff in attendance to provide for a safe environment and the protection of our urinals.
