Langley receives “Gift of Hope” donation

“Gift of Hope” recipient Cindy Langley and husband Kevin accept a check from Pastor Randall Wehmeyer, Robert Capella, and Linda Kreinhop.

The 3rd annual Divine Savior Lutheran Church “Gift of Hope” committee would like to thank the many people who were involved in this year’s fundraiser. Through your generosity and support, we were able to offer Cindy Langley, who suffers from the chronic disease Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) a substantial “Gift of Hope” award.
Cindy and Kevin Langley were presented with the “Gift of Hope” award check last Thursday. The check was presented by Pastor Randall Wehmeyer, Robert Capella, and Linda Kreinhop. Prior to the presentation, Cindy had just returned from a hearing exam given to her by her doctor. She learned from the exam that she had lost 60% of her hearing due to a new blood clot. The doctor tried a new hearing device that allowed her to hear after many months. The insurance covers only the hearing exam and not the hearing aid.
With the award she received, she will now be able to get her hearing aid and pay some medical bills.
The hearing loss is another setback for Cindy after making some positive advances. She is still faced with more surgeries to come. Cindy tells us that she will never take anything for granted. She dreams of driving her car, going to work, and doing simple daily living activities such as brushing her teeth without help from another person.
The Divine Savior Lutheran Church would like to ask the community for continuous prayers for Cindy. Cindy continues to suffer with much pain in her hands and is faced with uncertainty of the outcomes of future surgeries.
The DSLC “Gift of Hope” committee would like to thank our sponsors and donors for their help and generosity for this year’s “Gift of Hope” fundraiser. We would like to especially thank Chaparral Ford of Devine, Cecil Atkisson Ford of Hondo, Security State Bank, Hondo National Bank of Hondo, Heavy’s Outdoor Barbeque, Boehle Sign Co. of Hondo, and Mark Kidd’s State Farm Agency for their continued support.
We would like to thank the Devine News for their outstanding support the last three years.
Many of these sponsors and donors have been part of our journey for the last three years, and we would like to say thank you for helping us in making dreams come true.
