The JV Warhorses scored at least two runs in every inning en route to a four-inning 14-0 rout of the Lytle JV Pirates on Friday, March 10.
Devine jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. Joey Seguin led off the game with a single to third, stole second, and scored on Leonard Pompa’s fly ball to right field. Truett Barron singled to third and was replaced on the base paths by Dakota Wofford. Brady Harrell singled to third to drive in Pompa, Joseph Guajardo singled to shortstop to knock in Wofford, and Harrell scored on Gehrig Runyan’s groundout to third for a 4-0 lead.
Two more runs came in the top of the 2nd inning. Seguin singled to shortstop, Chad Lawson drew a walk, and Seguin stole third and home before Lawson scored on a passed ball for a 6-0 lead.
The JV Warhorses put the dagger into the game with a six-run inning in the top of the 3rd. Harrell led off the inning with a single to third before stealing second and taking third on a passed ball, scoring on Guajardo’s groundout to third. Tristin Kramer drew a two-out walk, stole second and third, and scored on Tristin Cruz’s single to third. Seguin singled to shortstop to drive in Cruz, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and stole third. Lawson struck out but reached base on a dropped third strike that allowed Seguin to score. Pompa tripled, knocking in Lawson, and scored on a wild pitch to go up 12-0.
Devine’s final runs of the game came in the top of the 4th inning. Clayton Brown led with a walk, took second on a passed ball, and advanced to third on an error that also allowed Wofford to reach base. Lawson singled to center to drive in Brown, and Jordan Degollado followed with a single to shortstop to knock in Wofford.
The JV Warhorses racked up 14 hits and had just one error, and limited Lytle to just one hit. The JV Pirates also had three errors.
