Christmas in God’s Country kicks off in Hondo Dec. 7

Christmas in God’s Country is just around the corner. Mark your calendars now for this hugely popular event that brings everyone out for a weekend of Christmas joy.
Our holiday celebration kicks off Friday, December 7. Just after dark, the Meyer Elementary choir brings the crowd around with classic carols sung in front of City Hall with Santa Claus looking on. The lighting of the Christmas tree at City Hall follows, marking the official start of the most wonderful time of the year.
The Texas Children’s Choir, dazzling horse drawn carriage rides, a snow play area, pictures with Santa and a showing of Christmas classic movies will all take place around the courthouse throughout the evening. And all these events are FREE! Food trucks will stay throughout the evening to handle all your needs, from snacks to dinnertime meals.
Come back Saturday, December 8 and get all your Christmas shopping done at Market Days. Vendors from all over the state plan months ahead to be a part of our Market Days and we are thrilled to bring them back year after year. Shopping will continue throughout the day and into the evening, giving everyone a chance to get their holiday shopping complete.
Find your seat along any of the streets downtown and get ready to cheer on the Jingle Bell Joggers who will finish up the 5K on Avenue M, just before the start of the legendary Lighted Night Parade. A beautiful sight to behold, this parade will surely get you in the Christmas Spirit.
On Sunday evening, December 9, we will have Community Worship in God’s Country that will be led by Plants and Pillars Student Ministry. Light refreshments will be provided. Join us as we celebrate “The Reason for the Season.”
