Anselmo Monreal, age 79, of Devine, Texas passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018. He was born in Devine, Texas on April 21, 1939 to Rafael Monreal and Pillar Salazar.
Anselmo is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter: Mary Jane Monreal, and his stepdaughter: Elida Herrera.
He is survived by his loving wife: Luisa Monreal; his sons: Andrew Monreal (Christina), Anselmo Monreal Jr. (Rosemary), and Vicente Monreal; his daughters: Rachel Bosquez (Fabian), Rebecca Vasquez (Isabel “Easy”), and Dolores Gutierrez (Ruben); his stepsons: Gilbert Herrera Sr. (Barbara) and Joe Herrera (Matthew Wyche); his stepdaughters: Anna Hilburn (Ray Davila), Laura Tovar (Roberto), Tammy Hernandez (Jorge), and Crystal Serna (Gilbert);
He is also survived by 53 grandchildren and 111 great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren.
A viewing was held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 8:00 – 10:00 am at Hondo Funeral Home. A rosary was recited at 10:30 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. A funeral mass was held Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. An interment followed at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
