Warhorses win final scrimmage

The Warhorses have played their last scrimmage of the season and won against San Antonio Kennedy 8-6. With 11 returning Warhorses, the team is hoping to improve on their 2018 season record of 16-14. With Coach George Villa leading the Warhorses, this is expected to be another great winning season.
Devine had four different Warhorses pitch in the 7 inning scrimmage. Truett Barron opened the game and pitched the first three innings with 7 strike outs and 4 walks. Brady Harrell pitched inning 4 with 1 strike and 1 walk. Isaiah Oropeza pitched innings 5 and 6 with 1 strike and 3 walks. Gehrig Runyan pitched the final inning with 3 straight strike outs. Clayton Brown was behind the plate as catcher all seven innings and caught 1 Rocket trying to steal.
Offensively the Warhorses had a great night with a lot of players making plays. Oropeza had 4 hits, 2 runs, and a stolen base. Joseph Guajardo 1 hit, 1 walk, and 1 steal. Blaine Miller 1 hit, 1 run, and 1 walk. Newt Crouch 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, and 1 steal. Runyan 2 walks and 2 steals. Chad Lawson 1 run and 1 walk. Xsavior Martinez 1 run and 1 steal. Harrell 1 RBI, 1 walk, and 1 steal. Darrin Lafferty 1 RBI. Brown 1 hit and 1 walk. Truett Barron 2 hits, 2 RBI, 1 walk, and 1 steal.
“The Pleasanton scrimmage was another controlled scrimmage. We were a little shaky with our pitching again and out competitiveness early on. After having a little pow wow, we got it rolling a little and finished the scrimmage competing a lot better,” Coach Villa said.
