Arabians win season debut

In their season opener against Pleasanton, it looked like it would be a shut out until Pleasanton rallied in the bottom of the 6th with 5 runs but it was not enough that late in the game and Devine won 11-5.
Here are Varsity Coach Juan Gonzalez comments for the game: “We came out and jumped on them right from the start scoring 4 runs in the first inning. Offensively we kept scoring runs and that’s exactly what we work on. We want to be efficient and score every inning. Two of the 7 innings we did not score with runners on base so we need to continue to work and know the situation and drive in runners.
Defensively, Isabella Gutierrez pitched 4 great innings. Pleasanton had a big 5th inning scoring 5 runs. Mackenzie McClellan did a great job coming in as relief pitcher and kept Pleasanton at 5 runs through 2 innings or work.
The defense behind our pitching last night played great. There were great plays made by 3rd baseman Arieana Ramirez, Short Stop Jeanette Rios, and Catcher Kendall Arche along with the rest of the Arabians.
It was a great win to start the season and great team effort! If these girls can put the TEAM before themselves and support each other we will do great things this season.”
Rios had 4 runs and 3 hits. Julie Ortiz 1 hit, 2 RBIs, and 1 walk. Arche 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Jessie Ramirez 2 runs, 3 hits, and 3 RBIs. Ramirez 2 runs, 3 hits, and 3 RBIs. Mackenzie Schneider 1 hit, 1 RBI, and 1 walk. Halle Hagdorn 2 hits and 1 RBI. Isabella Gutierrez 1 hit and 1 walk. Dasslyn Coronado 1 run. Lindsey Herrera 2 runs.
Gutierrez pitched 4 innings with 2 strikes outs, 7 walks, and allowed 5 hits 109 total pitches. McClellen pitched the final innings with 3 strike outs and 2 walks in her 49 pitches.
