Tied at the end of the seventh inning, the Warhorses fought hard and beat SA Wagener 12-11 in a non-district game on April 18th. Devine trailed until the bottom of the seventh when they earned four runs to tie the game.
Bottom of the first, down 0-3, 2 outs, Joseph Guajardo, Newt Crouch, and Truett Barron on base, Brady Harrell single to center and Guajardo scored. Gehrig Runyan was hit by a pitch with bases loaded forcing in Crouch, 2-3. Bottom of the third, Barron doubled to center, Harrell doubled and Barron scored. Lawson walked, Harrell scored on a passed ball, Blaine Miller singled, Isaiah Oropeza sacrifices and Lawson scored, 5-8. Bottom of the fifth, 1 out, Crouch triples, and then scores when Barron grounds out, 6-8. Bottom of the sixth, Kramer hit a home run to right field, 7-9. Bottom of the seventh, Miller walked, Contreras hit a ground ball, Kramer hits a line drive and Miller and Contreras scored. Crouch reaches first after an error by the shortstop and Kramer scored. Barron doubled to right and Crouch scored and tied the game at 11-11. Bottom of the eighth, 1 out, Miller and Oropeza walk and then Contreras grounds into a fielder’s choice and Miller is thrown out advancing to home. Kramer walked and loaded the bases. Crouch singled on a line drive and Oropeza scored the winning run, 12-11.
