The Devine Warhorses outdistanced the competition by 43 strokes last Friday and Saturday at Pleasanton High School’s annual golf tournament. The Warhorses shot a respectable 333 on the first day but the chilly and wet weather the second day played a part in the rising scores from most players on each of the teams.
Devine shot a 355 Saturday finishing with a 688 overall to secure the first place plaque. San Antonio Steele finished 2nd with a 731 and Southside finished 3rd with a 740.
Senior Carson Tilley finished in 3rd place overall with a two-day score of 152 (72/80). C.C. Winn’s Diego Ibarra won the tournament with a 148 (74/74) while Uvalde’s Pearson Sterling’s 149 (75/74) finished in second just one stroke off the leader.
Rounding out Devine’s scores were Noah Tumbarello (81-88/169), Brice Champion (88-95/183), Brandon Flues (92-92/184), and Payton Anderson (123-126/249).
