Warhorse baseball swings into action

Devine Warhorse baseball officially began its 2022 practices last Friday in the friendly confines of the DHS weight room due to inclement weather eliminating the possibility of working out at the baseball field.
Head Coach George Villa did not let bad weather affect his approach to making the most of a not so ideal situation. Not being able to hit balls, or field routine grounders meant Villa could teach some mental aspects of becoming a better, more complete ball-player.
“We went over a lot of the cognitive parts of the game on Friday and Saturday, and the players were all-in on what I and my assistant coaches were teaching,” Villa stated. “We were very pleased in their effort, energy, competitiveness, and their ability to apply the concepts we have taught so far!”
Villa is assisted by Heath Poppe and Bart Oropeza. All three were pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail the players demonstrated, despite the fact that most would have rather been on the field instead of inside in the weight room.
“We are really excited as a coaching staff with what we’ve seen so far in the first few days of practice,” Villa said in closing.
Hopefully the sun will come out and the Warhorses can get on their field of dreams to go through a regular practice.
