Natalia Veterans Library is open

The American Library Association believes that libraries will continue to play essential roles in our communities even in the wake of many closings and will require community support for libraries to continue providing vital services such as advancing digital inclusion and facilitating connectivity, as well as keeping our employees working so they can deliver these services.
Around the country the American Library Association reports that many libraries are closed to the public, but the Natalia Veteran’s Memorial Library is currently open. Please feel free to continue to reserve books online and email documents to be printed, but also feel free to stop by and browse through the shelves to find that perfect book or DVD! Our new hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 am to 4 pm.
In addition, our library staff has been working hard to expand access to digital resources, virtual programs and new services to reach the surrounding community. The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) has launched a new program, E-Read Texas, to bring electronic books to Texans served by small community libraries in all parts of the state. The E-Read Texas program will provide library e-books and an e-reader application that will make it possible for all Texans served by public libraries to access e-books. The Natalia Veteran’s Memorial Library has begun implementation of this program and would be glad to help you get it installed on your mobile device. Please stop by the library for help or check out our social media page for directions.
We faithfully update our social media page and website (natalialibrary.org) to list programs and resources for our patrons. There are links to virtual story times, free eBooks, Summer Reading program logs and activities plus more! Since March of this year we have seen our library card applications increase, and the requests for information and materials related to education skyrocket. Check out our online catalog to search for items in our collection, take advantage of our searchable databases and to reserve any item. Go to: https://natalialibrary.biblionix.com/catalog/
The library is the base for a local homeschooling group “South TX Home Educators”, and houses a homeschool resource room with curriculum, manipulatives and more. For advice on homeschooling, and access to the resource room please stop by the library to speak to the Library Director.
As circumstances change daily for all of us, we continue to work to serve everyone in the community. From toddlers, school age children, senior citizens and unemployed workers we are working on creative ways to provide support. We have expanded our public WiFi and have made it open to the public, and our staff offers technical support for job search and educational opportunities by appointment. Contact the Library Director at 210-213-1990 or stop by to make an appointment.
Our library staff continues to work from home to research resources, as well as, opening to the community four days a week. The Natalia Veteran’s Memorial Library’s staff, library board and Friend’s group looks forward to continuing to serve our local community.
