Man arrested for theft after police view surveillance footage

On August 24, 2018 at 0503 hrs., a Devine Officer was dispatched to gas Go Market, for a report of a theft. Upon arrival, the Officer met with store clerk who stated he observed a male enter the store. The male asked for a pack of cigarettes and placed a cookie on the counter. The male then grabbed the cigarettes and cookie off the counter and when the clerk stated he needed to pay for the items, the male state, “You don’t’ know what I have”, while grabbing his front waist band of his pants. The store clerk believed the male had a weapon and was in fear of being injured. The male then left the store with the unpaid merchandise. The clerk immediately called the Police. Store surveillance was reviewed and the suspect was identified by Devine officers as a male subject from Devine.
An arrest warrant was obtained from Judge Haby. The male subject was located and jailed.
