Family and friends will be having a BBQ plate sale fundraiser on Saturday, March 2, 2024 for Regina Garza, 25 of Natalia, to help her with her medical bills from a recent brain surgery and future medical appointments.
If anyone is interested in buying a ticket please reach out to the family. They will be serving brisket, sausage, rice, beans, soda, and the trimmings for $14.
Garza is a 2017 graduate of Natalia HS.
“Anything will help,” said her mother Frances Garza, who explains that she took her daughter to the hospital on February 6, for migraines and vomiting. After having a seizure, they did a CT scan and ultimately an MRI revealed a tumor in her brain.
The plate sale will be held at 504 4th Street Natalia, Tx 78059. They are accepting funds via Cash App: $reg121712.

On March 10, from 8 a.m.- 3 p.m., family and friends of Kelly Hurst will be hosting a silent auction and rummage sale.
Donations for the silent auction and rummage sale can be dropped off at Top Notch Cleaners: 508 W. Hondo Ave. The family is also offering to pick up donations. All proceeds will go directly to the Hurst family for medical expenses. In 2023, Hurst was diagnosed with “chiari malformation,” which is a condition where the opening at the base of the skull is too small, and with high pressure, parts of the brain are pushed into the neck.
Before finding out of her diagnosis, Hurst had been misdiagnosed for three decades. As upsetting as this was, she remained hopeful.

Natalia ISD has hired former offensive coordinator Jason Reynolds to guide the athletics department as its new coordinator and head football coach, replacing the departing Ilyan Martinez.
“I’m extremely excited to be back in the district,” Reynolds told the Devine News. “I was here for three years from 2018 to 2021. I’m just looking forward to getting back to work, getting back with the kids I grew up with.”

The Devine High School One Act group has been hard at work preparing for the District competition on March 2nd at Pearsall High School.
This year they are under the direction of English teacher Mr. Jose Guardiola with Mrs. Patti Taitano assisting. The group will be performing Voices by Richard Lortz.

Medina County–Early voting kicks off on Tuesday-Friday, February 20th-February 23rd from 8am-5pm.

By a vote of 3-0 Tuesday evening the Lytle City Council approved a May 4 election to authorize or reject the sale of the city-owned natural gas utility distribution system.
District 5 Alderman Charles Cate took no part in the vote or the closed executive session preceding it. District 1 Alderman Miguel Aguirre was absent during the entire Tuesday meeting.
