A helping hand for Baby Scott and family

Baby Lilly Evelyn R. Scott was born prematurely on September 15, 2021, at 4:09 PM at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in downtown San Antonio at 36 weeks. The NICU Team took Lilly directly to NICU to provide extensive medical care. Lilly was born with a condition call Omphalocele that will require multiple surgeries by very specialized surgeons in Dallas.
Both of Lily’s parents, Xochitl and Brian Scott (a Devine graduate), have dedicated their lives to helping others as first responders. Her mama is a paramedic in Medina County and her daddy is an law enforcement officer in a neighboring County, having worked many years in area fire departments as well. Now is our chance to help them.
The Scott family now resides in Comal County, though their life together began right here at the Devine EMS station where they both worked in 2015, and fell in love. And, of course, Lilly’s mom still works on EMS crews in Medina County. Omphalocele is a birth defect of the abdominal (belly) wall causing this sweet baby’s intestines, liver, or other organs to protrude outside of the belly through the belly button. The organs are covered in a thin, nearly transparent sac from her umbilical cord. Besides the known Omphalocele, Lilly was also born with an apparent deformity of her left arm, which will also require surgery.
Lilly has already had surgery for her Omphalocele but she needs multiple surgeries to correct her medical vonditions. Christus Santa Rosa Hospital has a very smazing surgeon and surgical team to correct her Omphalocele. Lilly will need a surgeon/specialist to correct the birth defect in her left arm and hand. The closest specialist for Lilly’s arm and hand is located at a hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Any assistance that is received will go directly to Lilly’s medical expenses, medical equipment, medical appointments, and travel expenses to assist with getting Lilly the medical assistance she needs. Medical insurance won’t cover all of the medical needs.
When Lilly’s mother Xochitl was 27 weeks she passed out while working her job as a Paramedic for Medina County in Castroville, Texas she was transported by her co-worker to the Methodist Hospital in the Medical Center. There she was told that she would no longer be able to work until after Lilly was born. Xochitl then went on FMLA shortly after.
Lilly’s daddy, Brian Scott, graduated from Devine High School with the Class of 2008.
When he graduated, he was a volunteer with a local Fire Department, the same Fire Department where his father, Ronald Lee Scott had volunteered before his passing. Brian has served at various fire departments and Medina County EMS crews over his career as a first responder. In 2016, he transitioned into a Law Enforcement career for a neighboring County where he has been working ever since.
You may also recall his parents and grandparents. Brian is the son of Ronald Lee Scott and Betty Ann Scott, and the grandson of Dan and Wanda Scott and Edgar and Lona Buchhorn. Lilly’s God Parents also live locally and are both First Responders as well.
Together the couple has six children. With many doctor appointments and surgeries ahead of them, the family is humbly accepting donations to help them get the best treatment for Baby Lilly.
