Community performance by Warhorse Band this Friday at 6:30 pm

A Community Performance by the Devine High School Band will take place at Warhorse Stadium this Friday, October 1 at 6:30 pm.
They will also be performing at the Harlandale Marching Festival the following afternoon on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 2:15 pm at Harlandale Stadium!
Last Saturday, Sept. 25 Devine earned 2nd Place overall in the 4A class in Fredericksburg at the Hill Country Marching Festival. Brian Schaefer was also presented an Outstanding Soloist Award!
Come out and see all the hard work the students have put into their marching show which started 11 weeks ago with practices back in July in the summer heat.
The football team is on their off week, so the band like to take the opportunity to show the community what they have been doing.
It is a FREE event that starts at 6:30 p.m. and isn’t too long, but worth the evening out.
“This year’s show is entitled “Finding Unity” and includes music from Gilroy productions titled “Tribal Echoes”. The show is in three parts: Part One “Restoring Hope”, Part Two “Finding Inner Peace” featuring trumpet soloist Brian Schaefer, and Part Three “Defending Heritage/Honoring Tradition”,” said DHS Band Director Jeff Miller.
“This show depicts the ageless battles of life in my opinion, and takes the listener through stages of how battles are approached, reflected upon, and learned from in a way which honors tradition and heritage of one’s culture.
” The music has a wide range of energy and colors and is visually interesting thanks to a solid design by our long-time drill writer and choreographer Richard Lopez. The selection also has offered the unique opportunity to feature our senior 1st Chair 4A All-State trumpet player Brian Schaefer on a solo which he was recently recognized for an Outstanding Performance at the Hill Country Marching Festival!
” We are in an excellent position at this point in time as we approach our second Festival in Harlandale this Saturday where we perform at 2:15pm. All of this is in preparation for UIL Region Marching Contest on Saturday October 16th in Hondo – where we also hope to qualify to advance to the Area UIL Contest in Corpus Christi on October 30th. I hope everyone enjoys the show!”said Miller.
