Pirates pushing forward as they navigate district play with great kids, great team effort

Last Friday, the Lytle Pirates faced the Marion Bulldogs in their first game of district play. While the scoreboard wasn’t what we wanted, ending 50-0, the Pirates played with great effort, to be proud of, with their best rushing game so far.
“Offensively, we saw significant improvement, especially on the ground, as our offensive backfield, led by Deven Caldera, Brandon Adkins, Albert Aguilar and Luke Estrada rushed for 181 yards against a tough Marion defense” Coach Adrian Trevino said.
“Up front, our offensive line, consisting of Elijiah Ramirez, Ivan Reyna, Kasen Boyd, Jacob Guevara and Cecil Olivarri paved the way for our offense to have the best rushing performance of the season.”
On defense, Diego Rangel shook up the Bulldogs a little, forcing 2 fumbles during the game.
“Our defensive standouts of the game were Senior linebacker JP Del Toro, who led the team with 7 total tackles, Junior safety Albert Aguilar (5 Total Tackles) and Senior Cornerback Diego Rangel (3 Total Tackles, 2 Forced Fumbles),” Trevino adds.
“Our kids continue to improve and play with great effort. Although it was not the outcome we wanted, our staff is extremely proud of our players,” Trevino said.
Next week’s game is here in Lytle against the Poteet Aggies. So come on out and cheer on our Lytle Pirates!
