Arabians go 2-2 last week

With a game and a tournament last week, the Varsity Arabians are now 4-2 for the season and will head to the Natalia Tournament this Friday. They are scheduled to play Natalia at 10:30 am on Friday and then D’Hanis at 12:00 noon followed by La Vernia at 4:30 pm.
Facing Bandera on February 23rd, the Arabians lost by just one at 6-7. Devine earned one run in the first and second inning, three in the fourth, and one in the sixth. They allowed Bandera to earn 6 runs in the fourth and one in the seventh for their win.
Angelina Rios 1 run. Mackenzie Schneider 2 singles. Jeanette Rios 2 singles, 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base. Dawn Morris 1 single, 2 runs. Dasslyn Coronado 1 single, 2 runs, 1 stolen base. Arieana Ramirez 1 single, 1 RBI. Isellia Gutierrez 1 double, 1 RBI, 1 run. Mackenzie McClellan 2 singles, 1 double, 106 pitches 60 strikes. Hilary Barnett 29 pitches with 9 strikes.
Devine opened their tournament play against the host, Jourdanton and won 6-3. In the first inning, with K. Schuchart on the mound, J. Rios walked and then stole her way around the bases. Gutierrez singled and J. Rios scored. Ramirez singled. McClellan singled and Gutierrez scored, 2-0. One out, Barnett singled and Ramirez scored. Coronado singled and Herrera is out advancing to home. Rios hit a single to center and after some Squaw mistakes, Barnett and Coronado scored, 5-0.
Top of the 4th, with Rios on 3rd, Ramirez is at bat. J. Rios scored on a wild pitch. Inning ends on a double play. In the bottom of the 4th, Jourdanton’s Emma Dorroh hit a deep home run that earned the team 3 runs. The game ended after Squaw, Malory Vickers, catches a ground ball from Ramirez. Devine won 6-3 in the 5th.

In their second game against Rudder, the Arabians were down 0-1 after the top of the first and answered with a line drive from McClellan that allowed J. Rios to tie the game 1-1. Bottom of the 2nd, with 1 out, Barnett on 3rd, Coronado on 2nd, and J. Rios on 1st, Gutierrez singled and Barnett scored. Up next was Ramirez who doubled and Coronado and Rios scored. Bases loaded again, Allison Taylor singled and Gutierrez and Ramirez score. The inning would end 6-1. Rudder held the Arabians to 6 runs and ended the game 6-1.

In their final game of the tournament, the Arabians fell to Medina Valley 1-4. Devine’s run came when Mackenzie Schneider hit a single allowing Herrera to score.
Schneider 1 single, 1 steal. McClellan 1 single, 1 double, 58 pitches with 31 strikes. Barnett 42 pitches with 19 strikes.
