8th Grade Colts split games with Lytle

8th Gold
Facing Lytle last Thursday, the 8th Grade Colts Gold team won 32-26. With a few weeks of practice behind them, the Gold team is coming together and playing well as a team. “Our transition basketball improved and we put on a press that really gave us the edge in the 2nd half,” stated Coach Lon Cozby.
Robert Russell led with 8 points followed closely by Carlos Gutierrez and Marcus Espinosa with 6. Bryce Winkler, Kannon Ramirez, Jared Fernandez, Joey Blanquiz, Hadyn Brumage and Ryan Castro each had 2 points.
8th Maroon
Against Lytle, the Maroon 8th Grade team fell short with a final score of 29-37. Starting off strong the first few minutes, Lytle was able to pull ahead. In the fourth quarter, the Maroon team was able to close the gap to just 4 but could not pull ahead. Not giving up, the team fought a hard and tough game.
Brian Schaefer scored 9, Zach Rico 6, Chris Ortiz 5, Jay Solis 4, Robbie Elizondo and Xavier Contreras each had 2 and Cody Trammel had 1.
