The Devine Varsity Warhorse Cross Country team participated in the Bandera Bulldog Preseason Invitational last Wednesday at the city park in Bandera. The Warhorses competed well finishing sixth in their initial meet of the season that included 10 teams and 94 runners in their division.
Xavier Garza led the Horses finishing in 25th place with a time of 19:46. Christian Osorio was not too far behind finishing 34th in 20:20. Weston Byrd (40th/20:28), Ismael Vera (43rd/20:36), and Marcus Espinosa (72nd/23:07).
“We will have to learn to be more disciplined with our paces and on being more mentally tough when the physical pain kicks in,” Coach Vay said. “This group is special; they have the potential to be good. We have many things to continue working on, which is expected with several young/new runners. I am excited to see what a full squad looks and competes like in Hondo on Saturday.”
