Warhorse baseball swings into action

Warhorse baseball has begun and is off to a great start. When they had a scrimmage against Antonian last Monday, the pitchers and defense was coming together but the offense struggled some and the Warhorses fell to Antonian 4-1. In this first scrimmage, Antonion faced 3 different pitchers, Brady Harrell, Isaac Solis, and Kyler Brown and got a total of 13 hits. Devine faced several different pitchers and got 14 hits but could get the runs home. Devine’s only run came in the 15th of the 21 innings by Gherig Runyan.
When the Warhorses played the Alumni on Saturday, the Warhorses won 8-6 with some great at hits but a defense that had some errors. The Warhorses have plenty of time to work out the muscles and break in the gloves in the coming weeks. The pre district games start February 19th with a home game against Hondo and district starts March 20th. Coaching the Warhorses is head coach George Villa and he is assisted by Heath Poppe, Juan Gonzalez and Bart Oropeza.
Monday night, the Warhorses stomped Pleasanton 6-2. Down 1-2 at the end of the 4th inning, Truett Barron got on first with a single to left field and then advanced to 2nd and then 3rd on two wild pitches with Chad Lawson at bat. He would then walk bringing up Joseph Guajardo who hit a single to right field and brought home Barron and sent Lawson to 2nd. With two on base, Kyler Brown hit a double to advance Guarjardo to 3rd and Lawson home. Now with the score 4-2 Matt Ornelas hit s strong double line drive to far right field making the score 5-2 with Guajardo coming across home. The last run would happen in the top of the 6th when Isaiah Oropeza hit a single to bring home Gherig Runyan.
