Highway 173 is getting smoother and smoother as we speak…..The construction on Hwy 173 through Devine is about 40 percent complete according to Project Manager Rick Martinez.
“We are re-surfacing about 1.5 miles from CR 5710 to TX 132. We started in early November and the timeline to finish is around mid-February,” Martinez said.
Tx Dot will keep traffic flowing while construction continues, with no major closures to this stretch of the highway.
“At some point in January we will be putting up concrete barriers at the Burnt Boot Creek crossing which will stay in place for about two weeks while we upgrade pedestrian walkways,” Martinez adds.
TxDot is also upgrading the lights and signs along this stretch of highway 173, and there will not be any major changes to lanes.
The lights at FM 2200 intersection and Windy Knoll intersection will be upgraded with radar.
According to Tx Dot media representative, this is a $2 million dollar project.
