Summer fun @ the Driscoll Public Library

The Summer Reading Program gets underway at the Driscoll Public Library on Thursday, June 1, when reading logs can be picked up at the circulation desk. All logs are time-based, and kiddos of all ages must read 300 minutes (five hours) per log.
Kids earn one raffle ticket for each completed log that is turned in. The raffle tickets can then be used as entries for one of a number of gift baskets that are available to win. Additionally, kids will earn a medal for the first three, five, and eight logs turned in.
A screening of Moana kicks off summer programming on Wednesday, June 7 at 1:00 pm in the George S. Woods Community Center.
Happy Tails Entertainment will bring a mobile petting zoo featuring exotic animals to the Community Center on June 14.
STEAM-based activities centered around the SRP theme of “Build a Better World” are scheduled for June 21, June 28, and July 5 before movies begin again on July 12 and run through August 9.
Movies and “Build a Better World” programming begin at 1:00 pm in the Community Center. Each child will receive one snack and one drink at the movie matinees.
New this year is Aviation Exploration. Devine police officer Clinton Schmelzer is heading up this aviation-based programming geared for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. Aviation Exploration is on Friday, June 9, June 16, and June 23 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Two weeks of the program require transportation to an off-site location; parents are responsible for arranging transportation for their child. Participation for Aviation Exploration is limited, so sign up at the library to secure a seat.
