Relay For Life this Saturday in Devine

Relay For Life Medina County will be a 6-hour event this year, on this Saturday, May 6, 2017 in Devine at Warhorse Stadium from 5:00 P.M. to 12 Midnight. Everyone is invited to attend this free event and join in on the fun.
Opening Ceremony will start at 5:00 P.M kicking off the event by celebrating everyone who’s been affected by cancer. Whether someone’s been diagnosed for 10 days or been cancer-free for 10 years, they gather together for the crowd to cheer them on.
Survivors Lap will start at 5:30 P.M. Survivor’s define courage and inspire those facing a cancer diagnosis. Their strength is honored with each step they take around the first lap. If you know anyone who’s overcome cancer invite them to join.
Caregivers Lap will follow the survivors at 5:35 P.M. Caring for others is such a selfless act, which is why we honor caregivers with a lap. They often walk with the person they’ve supported.
Luminaria Ceremony time is 8:00 P.M. Each luminaria bag represents loved one lost to cancer, brings support to those affected by it, and honors survivors. This powerful moment gives people the opportunity to grieve but also offers hope and comfort.
Closing Ceremony time is 11:30 P.M. We celebrate all that we’ve accomplished together and remember those we’ve lost. Together, we commit to take action and help end the pain and suffering of cancer.
Find out anything you want about Relay For Life on the local website relayforlife.org/medinatx or cancer.org or 1-800-227-2345. Teams, participants, sponsors, survivors, caregivers can all register online. Luminaries can also be purchased online as well as from local teams or at the event.
Currently there are 28 teams and 158 participants registered for the Medina County RFL, and they have raised $33,010 of the $85,000 goal.

Survivor Dinner last week
Around 35 survivors and guests enjoyed a dinner in their honor last Saturday in Castroville.
Let’s make this the best event!
Come join the fun, enjoy the food and festivities and help us celebrate survivors and beat cancer!
Relay For Life is a grass roots, community based team event. Teams are formed from community members all over Medina County.
A concession stand will be available as well as some teams like to sell food items at their campsites with the proceeds benefiting the Relay.
