Napoleon Sanchez

Polo Sanchez was born May 27,1933 into a migrant farming family from Lytle, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably until his retirement in 1972. He married his sweetheart from Natalia, Texas, Petra H. Garcia, in December 1952 and together they built a family, a few careers and a lifetime full of memories. In the Air Force, Polo served in Texas, California, France, Spain, England, Thailand and Illinois. After his military career Polo moved his family to rejoin the Sanchez clan that had settled in Lincoln, Nebraska. There, they started a new business based on his twenty years of food service management experience in the USAF and the restaurant “Los Sanchez” was established. Polo and Petra moved to the Georgia coast before returning home to Texas in 1984 where they dabbled in several entrepreneurial opportunities including real estate and land development. Polo and Petra were married for 66 years.
He is preceded in death by his father Jesus M. Sanchez, mother Micaela G. Sanchez, his siblings Maria (Nena) Martinez, Gregoria (Gollita) Guzman, Juanita (Janie) Cruz and Canuto (Ken) Sanchez. He is survived by his wife Petra (Pat) G. Sanchez and children Napoleon (Toe) Sanchez, Dave Sanchez and wife Amy, Miguel (Mike) Sanchez and wife Susie, Maria (Benita) Garza and husband Agustin, siblings Jesse Sanchez and wife Lupe, Esperanza (Hope) Gonzalez and husband Flavio, Olga Sanchez, Cristoval (Criz) Sanchez and wife Naida, Maria (Linda) Sanchez, Jose Sanchez and wife Valerie, Carmela Sanchez Funk and husband Brad, grandchildren Napoleon Sanchez Jr., Samuel Sanchez, Jordan Sanchez, Melodi Thompson, Michelle Watson, Stephanie Belyeu, Jeremiah Belyeu, Daniel Belyeu, 11 great grandchildren and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
Polo always claimed his military career as his primary calling. Throughout his lifetime he also shared affiliation with: Air Force Sergeant’s Association, Moose Lodge, VFW, Knights of Columbus, NRA, American Legion and the Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. Hurley Funeral Home Chapel Lytle, Texas. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 1, 2020 10:00 A. M. St. Andrew’s Catholic Church Lytle, Texas with internment to follow in Lytle Latin cemetery.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions those who wish to attend services must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
