Devine City Council renames alley, rejects variance request

The Devine City Council approved a request by Bonnie Mendoza to name the alley behind her house Mendoza Alley, and rejected Gabriel Hausauer’s request to replat 406 Monticello Circle and 1505 Libold Drive into two lots at the Special meeting held last Tuesday, July 11.

Eaton recuperating at home following accident

Eaton has a long road ahead of him but is on the way to recovery.

Local herpetologist Blaine Eaton is home and resting after a terrible rollover accident on IH 35 on June 29 involving him and his 9 year old grandson Curtis and their 41 snakes and 1 small alligator, all on the way to an educational lecture. Vance honored as one of Devine’s greatest athletes

Joe “Sandy” Vance won two World Series rings with the New York Yankees.
Helen Vance, 103, with a plaque celebrating the athletic accomplishments of her husband, Joe “Sandy” Vance. Pictured with Helen are her son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The plaque will be on display in the Devine Student Activity Center.
