Moore’s Summerfest set for July 9-10

The Moore Community Improvement Club met on May 5th at the Moore Community Center and discussed the planning of our next community event, Summerfest.
Moore’s Summerfest is slated for July 9th – 10th. This is a first for Moore so get ready for some fun. What is Summerfest you ask well here are the details. It’s a day of fun, food and music for all at the Moore Community Center and surrounding grounds. Festivities include a BBQ Brisket Cookoff, also we will have a Cornhole Tournament for teams to enter, a silent auction, sausage plates for sale along with other goodies and allowing select vendors to sell their wares during this time. On July 9th the BBQ cookoff contestants will set up for their night of barbequing. If you are interested in participating in the BBQ Brisket cookoff you will need to contact Jesse Carrasco at 210-326-6320 or Shelley Delgado at 210-889-9350 for sign up and more information. There will be a $35 entry fee and you will need to provide your own pit and brisket. The day of July 10th is when the brisket will be judged but this is not the only thing happening that day! The MCIC will be hosting a sausage plate sale with pre-ordering price being $8 and day-of pricing being $10 (drinks sold separately). If you are interested in pre-ordering your sausage plate contact Laura Dominguez at 210-947-5629. After you finish eating you and your family are encouraged to participate in our Cornhole tournament and other Summerfest carnival games! There will be small prizes for the ticketed games and cash prizes for our tournament and cookoff! Don’t forget to visit the silent auction area for your chance to enter for some great prizes. Next planning meeting for this committee is May 19th at 7pm at the Moore Community Center; anybody is welcome to join and volunteer.
As much as the MCIC is taking time and effort to plan events we are still hosting our food distribution service, Moore Senior Box Program. We are still working with residents to get enrolled in this food distribution program for the elderly. We ask that you continue to spread the word so all qualified seniors can benefit from this program. Anyone wishing to sign up can call 830-931-1740 for information!
For more food services, anyone wishing to receive Frio County commodities should call 830-931-1740 to be added to the list. Please note, the distribution times vary so add your name to be included for notification of distributions.
Our next monthly meeting will be on June 2nd at 7 PM at the Moore Community Center.
