Playing great offense and making their plays count, the Junior Varsity Arabians beat Falls City on January 2nd. In this last game before district starts the Arabians played a great game but the ball would not go in.
The girls “held their composure at the end of the game when things got tense,” said Coach Leigh Anne McIver.
With a final score of 26-21, Scarlett Smith scored 7 points with 5 rebounds, Kaylee Howard had 7 rebounds and 2 points, Allyson Taylor 6 points 4 rebounds, Karli Geyer 4 points, 2 rebounds, Gabby Rodriguez 4 points, Jasmine Pompa 3 points 5 rebounds, Dana Aaron 1 rebound, and Janaee Wofford 1 rebound.
In the district opener against Lytle, the JV Arabians beat them 58-12. In the first quarter the Arabians led 12-4 and at the end of the second the score was 22-9. The third quarter is when the team really got into their offensive groove and kept scoring ending the quarter 37-11. In the fourth quarter alone the team scored 21 points and held Lytle to 1 free throw.
Rodriguez led the charge with 13 points and Wofford dominated under the basket with 7 rebounds and 8 points. Pompa scored 11 points 4 rebounds, Alexa Garza 8 points 2 rebounds, Aaron 6 points 1 rebound, Taylor 6 points 2 rebounds, Geyer 4 points 2 rebounds, and Destiny Morales 2 points.
