The 2017 HANK Golf Tournament netted $17,575 this year, making it the largest golf fundraiser to date! The tournament was held at Devine Golf Course this past Saturday, November 18.
“It was a smashing success! We appreciate our county and everyone in it that supported HANK so strongly this past weekend,” said HANK board member Heather Yanta. “As we have been proud to tell you before an average of 97¢ of every dollar goes straight to children in need in our area.”
For those of you who aren’t familiar with HANK, it is a local Medina County based organization which helps support and bring many smiles to over 100 foster kids in the Medina, Real, Uvalde County area. HANK funds two community foster homes (one in Devine and one in Hondo), and hopes to add more soon. They also host a wonderful shopping trip and Christmas Party for these kiddos each year, making sure they all have something to smile about this Christmas. Throughout the year, they also grant foster kids and foster families wishes requested by Child Protective Services caseworkers, as the state is not always able to provide everything these kiddos need.
HANK extends a great thank you to all of the sponsors who helped this year.
“We can only help the hundreds of kids we do each year with the continued support of individuals and businesses in our area,” Yanta adds, “Thank you!”
“We could not have done this without the help of Linda Kreinhop with the Devine Ladies’ Golf Association and our local golf pro, Cameron Scitern. Linda and Cameron were a God send throughout this entire process. I appreciate the entire HANK board for their hard work. John & Debbie Southwell, Diane Cosgrove, Bob McCoy, Molly Daniel, and Glenn Riff are just the best to work with. I am so thankful to our community for stepping up and helping us beat our goal of $16,000! I look forward to next year!”
