Barbara Flores has joined the administrative staff at Natalia ISD as the Business Manager. She brings a bushel of experience with her as she moves into the position and is already making her mark by analyzing a number of financial trends as well as crunching other numbers affecting the finances of the district.
She was born and raised in Edinburg, TX, and has been involved with school finance since 2004 earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg, TX, and her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from National American University in Austin, TX. Flores is also a Registered TX School Business Administrator certified by the Texas Association of School Business Officials.
She began her school finance career in 2004, serving as the Business Manager at Benavides ISD in Benavides, TX, overseeing all facets of the districts business and operations including school finance, budgeting, personnel, purchasing, transportation, maintenance and food service.
From 2008 until 2016, she served as the Assistant Director of Planning and Budget for San Antonio ISD. There she worked on their budget and assisted in preparing information for the general audit of the district. She also preformed evaluations of historical and current financial information to prepare for the final amended budget. She also worked with the Child Nutrition Department and Special Education to assist in compliance requirements and budget efficiency.
“My goal for Natalia ISD is to ensure fiscal compliance through thoughtful and consistent oversight of budget development and preserve financial excellence” Flores said.
Mrs. Flores is married and has six children, all boys, and is an avid fan of the San Antonio Spurs.
