We are pleased to announce The DEVINE VOLUNTEER FIRE & RESCUE DEPT’S largest Chili Cook-off, Flame Grilled Heroes, at Devine Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department – Devine Texas! It’s a big taste in a small town! The event will be held SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24th, 2024, 8 am to 6 pm, with public chili tasting from 11 – 3.
Cooks’ meeting will begin at 8 am. Our chili cook off has become a yearly tradition filled with games, live music, fun, and of course chili! This event continues to grow with great community attendance year after year. This year’s event will have 4 categories: Traditional Red, Homestyle, Chili Verde, and Salsa. Enter one or all categories!
This official ICS World Champion Chili Cook-Off sanctioned event allows us to give back to our community. Back in 1967, a group of friends started a “friendly” chili competition in Terlingua, Texas. Why did they start the competition? Well, they all had one thing in common – each thought that he made the best chili and that he knew more about chili than anyone else. So why not prove it! In 2020, the World Food Championships officially acquired ICS to further its brand in the Food Sport world! The ICS continues to uphold the same core values of our founders by bringing people together to enjoy healthy competition and America’s great culinary creation – CHILI! Our mission is to continuously improve chili while raising money for charities and nonprofits year-round.
