November meeting
The next meeting of the Devine Garden Club will be November 16th, 3:00 pm, in the Horvath home located at 135 CR 7811, Natalia, Texas. The hostesses for this meeting are Alma Horvath and Andrea Vasquez. Good to Grow will be by Alma Horvath, and the auction item provided by Melody Fowler. Donna Davis, Floral Designer, will provide the program. Mrs. Davis’s programs are always educational and entertaining. We hope that anyone interested in floral design or gardening attends on Thursday, November 16th.
October report
The October meeting, held in the beautiful Garcia home, Lytle, Texas, and hosted by Miriam Garcia and Laura Sinclair, was delightful. Sandra Stacy, Certified Texas Master Naturalist, provided the program on Birds in Winter. In addition to the program, a mini-plant exchange was held, and tours of the Garcia grounds were given. The abundant refreshments were delicious and enjoyed by all as the members and three guests visited after the meeting. The business meeting was conducted by Vice President, Sandra Stacy. The upcoming Fall Fest, Scarecrow Contest, seed ball packaging, and helping with landscaping of the Devine Animal Kennel area were discussed.
Activities
A special thank you to all who came by our Plant Sale booth at Fall Festival for you made it a successful endeavor. We appreciate your helping us keep the Four Corners area beautiful. Also, we won our fourth consecutive “Best of Show” in the scarecrow contest. Thank you, Devine Chamber of Commerce for holding this fun event. Thank you members, too numerous to list, for your time, plants, and support with this sale. We extend a warm invitation to anyone interested in gardening or learning about gardening to come visit us at our meetings.
