Hondo native one of the producers for country song in CMA awards

Tonight at 7 pm, The CMA Awards will air on ABC.
“For anyone watching, our son Bart is nominated as one of the producers of'”Dirt On My Boots,’ sung and co-produced by Jon Pardi, which us up for Single of the Year. Keep your fingers crossed for him, Linda and I! We couldn’t be more proud! Jon is also nominated for Song of the Year and New Artist of the Year and is an amazing young man,” said Hondo man Bill Buter, Bart’s father.

Bart is a native of Hondo,TX. He now lives in Nashville,TN where he is a successful songwriter and producer.

Driscoll Public Library celebrates Dia de los Muertos

The Driscoll Public Library celebrated Dia de los Muertos the week of Oct. 30.

Library aide Stacy Pyron decorated and set up a community altar on Monday, Oct. 30. Patrons brought pictures and mementos of loved ones who have passed away to place on the altar.

Recently retired Library Director Barbara Moore entertained little ones during Preschool Storytime on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The children wore their Halloween costumes to the library for the special occasion.

A special screening of “The Book of Life,” an animated feature about a bullfighter who embarks on an adventure in the afterlife on the Day of the Dead, was shown Wednesday, Nov. 1.

History Fair in Lytle Nov. 4

There will be three cannons at the fair that will be fired off throughout the day.

An 1860s Kitchen, Dutch-Oven Cooking, One Room Schoolhouse, Mountain Men, 3 real Cannons, Texas Rangers, Outlaws & Lawmen, Dulcimer Band, Alamo Bobbin Lacers, Quilt Drawing, Book Sale, Food/Drink (Soup Beans, Cornbread, Hotdogs, Sodas, Water, Etc.), Mercantile with homemade gifts (Jams/Jellies, Soap, Crocheted Items, Candy, etc.)….these are just a few of the things you’ll find at the History Fair November 4.
