7:13AM – Officer dispatched to Hondo Ave E for a minor accident.
9:30AM – Complainant called regarding their bank account showing a $500 deposit then it being taken out. All okay, bank had a glitch that showed deposit on multiple accounts.
9:30AM – Officer dispatched to SH 173 for disabled truck tractor in roadway. All okay, tow truck already in route.
13:55PM – Complainant on Hondo Ave called in reference to a 2023 Toyota bearing temporary plates plugging into electrical outlet and charging vehicle overnight at business location.
18:00PM – Officer dispatched to Moore Ave for a verbal disagreement. All okay.
21:45PM – Complainant on Libold Dr called in reference to a black Chevy pickup peeling out and speeding in the area. Unable to locate.
22:58PM – Male subject jailed on Colonial Pkwy for DWI – struck cemetery fence and refused to stop.
23:27PM – Officer jailed male subject for DWI/DUI on Teel Dr.
September 16
7:29AM – Complainant on Crouch Ave advised vehicle was damaged on 9/15/23 at approximately 0200 hours near the driver side back passenger window.
14:46PM – Complainant on Teel Dr advised he lost his wallet at one of two businesses in Devine.
15:32PM – Complainant on Colonial Pkwy advised vehicle struck by unknown vehicle while parked and unoccupied between 1130 and 1500 hours.
15:32PM – Complainant on Crouch Ave advised male subject sitting in front of unoccupied house.
September 17
0:01AM – Officer dispatched to Jack Nicklaus Dr as separated wife came to house and altercation ensued. Female at location was assaulted and charges are pending. Wife jailed on 9/21/23 on an arrest warrant for the case.
2:22AM – Complainant on Zig Zag Ave advised shots fired in area. Unable to locate.
4:30AM – Complainant on Bright Dr N called in reference to two male subjects heard on property. Searched area but unable to locate.
September 18
0:30AM – Report of pickup on IH 35 SB all over roadway traveling between 30-35 MPH and almost crashed multiple times.
0:43AM – Female subject jailed for DWI/DUI on IH 35
6:55AM – Officer dispatched to Ross Dr for aggravated assault. Ex intentionally struck rear bumper of complainant’s vehicle while taking children to school. Charges pending. An arrest warrant has been obtained.
10:00AM – a juvenile female was found in possession of tobacco. Citation issued.
15:10AM – a juvenile female was found in possession of nicotine vape pen.
September 19
20:01PM – Officer dispatched to Hondo Ave for minor accident.
21:38PM – Complainant on Howell Ave called in reference to loud noise; white pick up playing loud music. Unable to locate.

8:49AM – Officer dispatched to Washington Dr for minor accident.
8:54AM – Complainant on IH 35 S called in reference to a white GMC pickup parked with windows down and two rifles in sight.
11:00AM – Male juvenile cited and released to mom for vape pen found in locker.
15:15PM – Complainant on IH 35 S called in reference to suspicious white van. All okay.
17:11PM – Officer dispatched to Hondo Ave for minor accident.

1:43AM – Complainant on Flores Dr called in reference to someone being heard on property. Everything appeared okay.
13:45PM – Complainant on Flores Dr called to report a dog bit to dog owner. ACO notified.
15:05PM – Complainant on Covey Ln stated son broke her TV and Christmas tree.
19:12PM – Complainant on College Ave report vehicle was struck by another unknown vehicle while parked at post office.
19:25PM – Complainant on IH 35 reported three 18 wheelers parked behind business. Officer made contact and vehicles were relocated.

Adan Castelo Leija August 13, 1939- September 22, 2023
Announcing the passing of Retired Sergeant First Class Adan Castelo Leija on September 22, 2023, at the age of 84. Our loving and devoted father ,husband and friend to all whose lives he touched. He has now gone home to be with God and watches us from above. He was born in Fort Stockton TX on August 13, 1939, to parents Gregorio Leija and Maria Elidia Castelo. Raised by his father Julio Acosta. “Pelon” to all those who knew him best.
He was a genuine, fun loving, kind person, who knew no stranger. His grandkids lovingly called him Tata.They were his pride and joy. As a grandkid you knew that if you needed help he was always there for you. Family is what he LIVED for.
He enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping and a barbecue with family and friends. One of his greatest pastimes was music and dancing, there wasn’t a party he didn’t enjoy, always the life of the party. He loved to tell you a story or two of the past, even if you had heard it a few times before. He was proud to have served in the U.S. Army for 23 years and served two tours in Vietnam. He LOVED life.
Adan was preceded in death by his parents Julio and Maria Elidia Acosta, Gregorio Leija, Wife Amelia M. Leija, Son Eddie Duarte, Brothers Roy Castelo, Paul Acosta, Gregorio Leija.
Adan is survived by his Brother Pete Acosta, Sister Eva Acosta. Childern Manuela, Adan, Diana Noelia, Corinna, Lily, Naomi. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
True Chicano, but an American soldier at heart
There will be a Rosary at 9AM on September 28th at Primrose Funeral Services in Lytle, TX. Mass will follow at 10AM at St. Andrews Catholic Church. Later that evening there will be a visitation from 5-7pm at Primrose Funeral Services in Lytle, TX. On Friday, September 29th we will be heading to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for an honors service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Primrose Funeral Services in Lytle.
Ava Sue Word Sostarich
Ava Sue Word Sostarich, of Devine, was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior on September 23, 2023, at the age of 88. She was born March 9, 1935 in Bandera, Texas to the late Roy Kyle Word and Ila Bess Deason Word.
Survivors include her son, Scott Sostarich (Melanie) of Devine; daughter-in-law, Lynn Sostarich of Spring; grandchildren, Carol Anne Scoggin (David), John Matthew Sostarich (Angela), David Sostarich (Whitney), Nathan Sostarich, Mitchell Kyle Sostarich (Madison), and Allison Sostarich; great-grandchildren, Emma Scoggin, Wyatt Scoggin, Ava Sostarich, Ila Sostarich, John Truett Sostarich, Eli Sostarich, Rowan Sostarich, and Luke Sostarich.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, John Sostarich; her son, John Mark Sostarich; and her sisters, Nina Pierce and Joy Ross; and her brother, John Word.
Sue was the valedictorian of the graduating class of 1952 of Brackett High School in Brackettville, Texas. In 1955 she married the love of her life, John Sostarich of Chicago, Illinois, whom she met at Lackland AFB. They made their home in Lytle, Texas. Both were very active in their community and local church. Sue was a very talented musician and served her Lord Jesus Christ by playing the piano and organ at Lytle FBC and Trinity Baptist Church for many years. She retired in 1997 from Lackland AFB, after 43 years in the Comptroller Division. She was a loving wife, caring mother and grandmother. She loved her Madison Hills Baptist Church family dearly.
Visitation will be Monday, October 2, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Trinity Baptist Church, 18670 IH 35 Access Road, Lytle, Texas. Interment will follow at Devine Evergreen Cemetery in Devine, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sue’s memory to Madison Hills Baptist Church or to the church of your choice.

Water quality related to the Medina River, along with land and watershed management, will be discussed. Topics will include water quality, water quality law, agricultural and urban best management practices, hydrology, and others. Benefits for Coach Wueste
Natalia Coach Melissa Wueste was diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer in May 2023. Since then, Coach Wueste has undergone radiation treatments and other procedures and will continue the fight over the next few months. As Breast Cancer Awareness month approaches us we hope you will join us for some benefit events to raise money and support her battle. All proceeds will go to the Wueste family to help with health expenses as she continues her fight.
There will be several upcoming benefit events such as a T shirt sale, 5K color run October 28, wrist band/lanyard sale and a car wash.

Lytle City Administrator Matthew Dear notified the city council Monday that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has served notice of two violations after a July inspection of the municipal collection system and the sewer service.
