The Varsity Arabians are 3-0 in district play after beating Carrizo Springs and Crystal City last week. Overall the Arabians are 21-6 this year.
January 9th against Carrizo Springs, the Arabians hit the court hard and after a quick aggressive start they took the lead and never lost it. At the end of the first they led 14-6 and at the half their lead grew to 37-13. The second half went just as well with the score at 51-13 at the end of the third and the final score was 66-25. The decisive win was due to the aggressive defense and getting the rebound.
“We really played well on both ends of the floor. Offensively, we did a good job of working the ball around to get some really good shots. It was a great team effort on both ends of the court and a big win for the girls,” stated Coach Jim Sessions.
A new gym was no help for Crystal City last Friday when the Arabians beat them 45-30. A strong press held Crystal City to just 12 points in the first half while helping Devine score 19. In the third quarter is when the Arabians took control and played the game at their pace bringing the score to 37-19. “In all, it was a great win for us on the road. The win took us to 3-0 in district play,” said Coach Sessions.
District play continues with Lytle on January 23rd.
