Undefeated in district is the best way to start off a team’s volleyball record in school play. With only one loss of the season, the 7th Grade Maroon Fillys were 14-1 overall and 9-0 in district. They ended their sets with Carrizo Springs 25-7 and 25-15.
“These girls were very excited to get their final win of this volleyball season. The second game did NOT get off to a good start. It’s very difficult for this talented group of girls to force themselves to play at their level, regardless of how strong or weak the competition. When they relax on the court because they feel it may be an easy win, they make mental mistakes that cause the other team to earn unnecessary points. I hope they will remember that for next year because this group is going to be so exciting to watch.” Coach Shana Beaty
Kelsey Dishman had 6 aces, Kate Featherly 2, and Rylee Esquibel had 1 ace. Denise Contreras had 3 hits, Esquibel 3, Mackayla Schnautz 2, Featherly 2, Zoe Ortiz 1 and Kaylee Romano 1 hit. Contreras and Esquibel each had 2 kills, Romano and Featherly had 1 kill each. Brooklyn Miller and Esquibel each had an assist. Lizbeth De Los Santos dug the ball out twice, Featherly 1 and Ortiz had 1 dig.
With basketball already started and their first game on November 5th, this group of girls could repeat their undefeated record in another sport.
