The 7th grade Colts ended their season on a home win against Carrizo Springs. The game started off with a touchdown after a 7 yard run by Gabe Esquibel. Jonathan Weimkam scored next with a 4 yard pass from Sam Guardiola and Esquibel convered the extra 2 points. “We pulled off a little razzle dazzle on the next scoring play as Elijah Sanchez connected with Sam for 21 yards on a reverse pass,” reported Coach Quenton Sanders.
From 41 yards out Esquibel ran in another touchdown and Luke Friesenhahn ran in the conversion. An interception from Derrick Razo put the Colts in touchdown range again. Razo caught a huge pass from Friesenhahn for the score and Friesenhahn completed the 2 point conversion making the final score 36-0.
“I could not be more proud of all the members of the 7th Colts football team. The commitment and dedication it takes to practice at 6:30 am for eleven weeks straight is tough, and not one young man quit. They all fought through it. Aaron Bonilla played very well on the defensive side of the ball. Esquibel also had a huge interception to seal the shutout. We finished the year 5-1-1 which is an outstanding record! We didn’t reach all our goals, but this season has been a great success. Big shout out to our B-team guys who only had two games of their own. Those grinded all year, and their hard work is greatly appreciated by every member of the coaching staff.” Coach Sanders
