46-year-old suffers fatal gunshot wound

Fourteen local law enforcement officers surrounded this home on the IH-35 access road after responding to a call about gunshots.

Devine – The Medina County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home on the access road of IH 35 just outside Devine for shots fired on Tuesday morning, June 5 around 9:30 am and round a female in the bedroom with a fatal gunshot wound.
The victim was identified as 46-year-old Toni Lea DeBuse (DOB 02-08-72).
“We do not believe it was a suicide. There were two people in the house. One is being detained and we are working on that now,” said Medina County Sheriff Randy Brown in an interview at the scene.
Medina County Sheriff later identified a 62-year-old male who had been detained for questioning after the shooting.
According to Sheriff Brown, “There’s multiple weapons, so we have to work through it to find which weapon was used. There’s a whole bunch of things that come into play – accidents, self-defense, or just anger.”
Fourteen officers responded to the call as well as EMS.
The Sherriff would not speculate as to what happened, and told news reporters who swarmed Devine that he would rely on the evidence and autopsy from the medical examiner.
No information had been released about the relationship between DeBuse and the man who was detained.
